Qigong (氣功, Qìgōng) harmonizes body and mind through mindful movement, breath, and intention, cultivating life energy (Qi)and skill (Gong) to enhance health, prevent illness, prolong life, and awaken wisdom.

This Qi Talk is an invitation to share my findings during my 45 years of Tai Chi and Qi Gong teaching in the United States.

We will explore the duration of a full Qi circulation. The Microcosmic Orbit traditionally describes the circulation of Qi along the Ren and Du vessels (front and back midline). In contrast, we will discuss a broader concept—a complete cycle of Qi circulation throughout the whole body, involving the periodic activation and interaction of 12meridians over a defined duration.

This perspective emphasizes:

· The time-based (periodic) nature of Qi circulation

· The sequence of meridian activities across the entire 12 Meridians

· Observable indicators associated with different meridian phases during continuous practice

It is therefore a more comprehensive functional model rather than a single meridian loop such as the Microcosmic Orbit.

Learn an optimal method of practice and teaching. Whether you're a teacher looking to enhance your instruction, a practitioner aiming to deepen your practice, or a researcher seeking new insights, this Qi talks will offer valuable discoveries.

Jingshan Tang, founder of the Oriental Fitness Institute, holds a master’s degree in physical education and sports from the Anhui Normal University, China. Practicing Tai Chi and Qigong since1978, he has over 45 years of teaching experience in the United States and internationally. A Discovery Channel feature in 1995–1996highlighted his work. He has taught at the University of the Arts and the Georgian Court University. Bridging modern science—physiology, fascia, and platelet factor-4 research—with Daoist philosophy and Chinese medicine, Jingshan Tang explores how Taiji and Qigong harmonize body, energy, and mind for holistic health and well-being.
