September 2018 - Developing a Consistent Qigong Practice

September 2018 | Program Host: Vicki Dello Joio

There is an infinite array of demands on our time.  We are in near-constant habitual contact with others in our daily life.  This healing practice becomes a necessity by allowing us to reunite with our essential selves.  What are the hurdles to creating a regular, consistent practice?  How do we overcome these hurdles in order to commit to deepening our healing experience?  Our discussion will present some options to assist with this challenge.

Rose Allen has been a student of qigong since 2005, when she met Zhenzan Dao, who was leading classes in Portland’s Laurelhurst Park.  When her teacher later opened the MogaDao Institute in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2011, she relocated there in order to immerse herself in six years of deep study and teaching. Rose accumulated hundreds of hours of classroom instruction, in addition to her own personal practice.  While at the Institute, she also studied yoga, internal alchemy, depth sexology, meditation, gong fu, and life from a Daoist perspective.  Tai Chi is also included in her practice. As one of the first Certified Qigong Instructors there, she began tutoring others and eventually conducting her own classes. Rose was well-regarded at the Institute for her devoted study and dedication.  Over the years, she has also studied with Grandmaster Mingtang Xu and attended workshops with Professor Kenneth Cohen and Chinese Spiritualist Deng Ming Dao.  She is constantly furthering her study in order deepen and develop her understanding of this powerful healing art.  Rose has now returned to bring her teachings to the Rose City.  Her life goal is to share this healing practice with as many people as possible.
